Leadership Geauga is proud to announce the graduation of the Fall 2024 class of the Heritage Program for Retirees. The program, which ran six weeks from October 9 to November 13, brought together 15 engaged participants who explored Geauga County’s businesses, organizations, and rich history.
Participants attended weekly sessions on Wednesdays, which included engaging games to foster connections and featured 28 speakers from diverse industries such as parks and recreation, Geauga County history, business, agriculture, human services, and health and safety. The program aimed to give retirees a deeper understanding of the county’s needs and opportunities for impactful community involvement.

Graduates received a list of community service opportunities and are already making a difference. Many have reported increased involvement in local initiatives, demonstrating their commitment to giving back to Geauga County.
Additional Grant to Support Future Heritage Programming
Leadership Geauga is thrilled to announce it has received a $45,000 grant from The Cleveland Foundation to sustain the Heritage Program for Retirees for an additional two years. Kathleen Hallissey, Vice President of Grantmaking at The Cleveland Foundation, shared, “The Cleveland Foundation greatly appreciates Leadership Geauga’s commitment to creating and implementing programming that captures the wisdom of older adults to benefit the community and keep older adults meaningfully involved.”
The continued support will allow Leadership Geauga to further its mission of connecting retirees with opportunities to positively impact Geauga County.
